Provider Story

“In my area there were a few FCE providers, but none who did a 2-day, 6-hour, objective, kinesiophysical approach FCE.  Providing the WorkWell FCE set myself apart from other providers.”

Highland Park Physical Therapy, owned and operated by Marc Yeager, PT, is located in Atlanta, GA.  The practice serves outpatients and provides the WorkWell FCE, FJA/FJD and PWS.  Marc is also available to provide consultation in work injury management strategies and implement worksite ergonomic analyses.

Presently, Marc is the only WorkWell trained clinician in his practice having been trained in the continuum of WorkWell programs in 1999.  Marc explains,  “WorkWell programs provided me the opportunity to start my own practice without having to invest in the expenses of a facility whose primary focus is modalities, treatment and exercise.  I was able to develop and successfully run my practice as the sole provider of services for several years.”

When first opening his practice, Marc’s marketing consisted of attending case management conferences, industrial safety conferences and making numerous “cold calls” to the employers in his area.  Although these efforts resulted in some interest in the services he could provide, Marc reports, “I found the greatest benefit and most referrals came after speaking engagements at the Georgia State Safety Conference and the Georgia Bar Association.”  Marc’s referrals seemed to increase via “word of mouth”, especially within the legal community.  Explains Marc, “in my area there were a few FCE providers, but none who did a 2-day, 6-hour, objective, kinesiophysical approach FCE.  Providing the WorkWell FCE set myself apart from other providers.”

Feedback from the legal community, both plaintiff and defense counsel, has been positive.  They appreciate the thoroughness of the FCE, that they can request a one or two day evaluation, and that it provides objective information for workers compensation, long-term disability (LTD), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or personal injury cases.  “A few attorneys I work with will occasionally request that a potential client undergo a 2-day FCE.  They then use the results in deciding whether to accept the case or not.”

In addition to working with the Atlanta area legal community, Marc also works with physicians and employers, assisting them in making return-to-work decisions.  Some of the area employers served by Marc’s practice and WorkWell programs include Greyhound, Greif Corporation and Covidien.
